Office Location: Grade 8
As a member of the Newton community, I am proud to work with the students of Halsted Middle School. Watching our students grow as learners and as adolescents is rewarding. Halsted has afforded me the opportunity to teach and work with a variety of students within many grade levels and subject areas. This year, I am a 5th-grade In-Class Support Language Arts teacher as well as an 8th-grade Language Arts teacher. As the advisor to the National Junior Honor Society, I am a proponent of balancing academics with student activities and community service.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary & Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education, both from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. As a life-long learner, I hold a number of teaching and support service certifications from my post-graduate level work.
When I am not teaching and learning, I am traveling the globe with my husband. Whether I am volunteering in the Dominican Republic or trekking to hidden corners elsewhere, the travel experience is extremely important. We are all citizens of the world, and I enjoy bringing a little bit of that philosophy into my classroom.
