January 29th was our third grade Music & Arts Night. Our students performed an outstanding show singing songs related to Pop Art. They sang “Rock Around the Clock”, “Jailhouse Rock”, “La Bamba”, “Splish Splash”, and “Yakety Yak”. “Onomatopoeia” word art drawings were created during their art classes. The Art segment of the evening was inspired by the Jasper Johns’ “Alphabet”, which the students were able to create a painting of their initial. It was a wonderful evening.
On December 11th was our fourth grade Winter Band and Chorus Concert. “Good King Wenceslas”, “Jingle Bells”, The Dreidel Song”, and “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas” were performed by our band. Next the chorus sang “A Bell Carol”, “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”, “All on a Silent Night”, “A La Media Noche”, and “Corky the Porky Reindeer”. The fourth graders delivered a wonderful musical show.
Our fourth grade chorus had extra performances this season. They went caroling for the senior citizens at Bristol Glen and later sang at Newton Memorial Hospital, bringing smiles on the faces of those being serenaded. They also had a chance to sing several holiday songs “live” on the radio, thanks to WSUS. Keep up the good work band and chorus members!
