Newton HS ranks among Top 100 high schools in NJ

NHS is fastest rising school | September 9, 2016

New Jersey Monthly released its biannual analysis, and for the first-time, Newton HS earned a place in the Top 100 among 337 public high schools. The criteria were as follows:

Student/faculty ratio
Number of AP/IB subjects offered
Percentage of students in grades 11-12 taking at least one AP/IB test (this was mislabeled as it actually reported the percentage of juniors and seniors who took at least one AP/IB course)
Percentage of students taking at least one Visual & Performing Arts class
Percentage of students scoring 1550 or better on SAT
Percentage of AP tests resulting in scores of 3+ (IB = 4+)
Four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate; and
Percentage of graduates enrolled in college 16 months after high school graduation

What’s especially impressive is that NHS was mentioned specifically in the online article as the “fastest-rising school” among the Top 100, moving from 168th in 2014 to 99th this year.  This is truly a preK-12th grade achievement that should be celebrated by all stakeholders.
