French Club members will experience club activities that are meant to serve as an extension of the French classroom.  Members are required to attend at least three meetings/events a year. These club "réunions" include our Croissant Breakfast to welcome new members in September, a club trip during La Semaine de Français in November, or hosting a Francophone performer such as a Jazz singer or Molière dramatist.  We share the traditional Bûche de Noël at Christmas and have hosted Valentine's Dinner Dances for couples.  We may sponsor a trip to see Cirque de Soleil or a Broadway show which includes some culture or language, such as Les Miserables, Scarlet Pimpernel, Phantom of the Opera, etc.  We also often enjoy the culinary pleasures of France together when we meet in the foods room to make beignets, crêpes, chocolate fondue, fruit tarts or simple chocolate sandwiches or to have a French-Canadian taffy pull. Sometimes we host a "Film et Fromage" night and show a French comedy.  Most recently we have been hosting students from Southern France in both our homes and classroom; this is usually a lot of fun and a great way to make new friends to practice our French and they their English.

We always end our year heralding in our new club officers at either an after-school picnic or in a local restaurant that can meet our request for French/Euro cuisine.  Our club is active with a certain "joie de vivre."  We always seem to have a very busy year.  Take French and "nous vous invitons au club!"

La Société Honoraire de Français is the national high school French Honor Society.  Members are selected and inducted after 6 semesters of French in which they maintained a 93 average.  The French Honor Society members tutor Level 1 and 2 students, as well as induct the newer members and participate in a service project such as fundraising for Doctors Without Borders or the March of Dimes.
