A Message From the Principal
Welcome to Merriam Avenue School.
As our mission statement suggests, our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for all students. But that is not something the school can achieve on its own. Our school is built on a partnership between the school and you – the parents of the children we serve. So to make sure that partnership stays strong, it is important that we hear from you. My door is always open, and I will always make myself available to discuss any concerns you have, as will our Assistant Principal, Kenney Lutz. Feel free to call one of us or stop in at any time.
I also want to encourage you to get involved in other ways. We have a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). They do a lot for the children here at Merriam Avenue School, and participating in their meetings and events is a great way to make a positive contribution to our school. They meet on the third Monday of each month in the school library. Both myself and Mr. Lutz will be there. We look forward to seeing you there as well.
When you have a chance, please review the parent handbook that was sent home at the start of the school year. It contains procedures, school rules, and important dates. Calendars for each month of the school year will tell you the dates for all of our upcoming events. All dates, as well as school closings, will also be announced on the Instant Alert System, and if there are any changes to the date of an event, we will let you know as far in advance as we can.
If you have not already done so, please set up your Power Announce Instant Alert profile. Instructions for doing that are located in this handbook.
Both Mr. Lutz and I look forward to working with all of you to make this a great school year. We are both always around, don’t hesitate to stop by.
Sincerely,
Kevin Stanton
