Home Instruction

If your child requires a leave of absence for medical reasons, certain conditions must be met. The impairment due to an accident or physical, mental, or emotional illness must last for at least ten consecutive days or a total of twenty cumulative school days during the school year for eligibility. If these criteria are satisfied, we will need a letter from your healthcare provider containing the following information: a written diagnosis, details about the temporary disability, and the start and end dates of the requested home instruction.

Please note that the maximum time we can approve at once is six weeks, including weekends. Once this six-week period is over, if additional time is needed, a renewal extension request must be submitted by your healthcare provider. This request must include the initial letter information along with any updates regarding changes, if applicable.

Your guidance counselor and I will work together to make the proper arrangements needed for your child. Additionally, this request must be approved by our school physician.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as this is a necessary process. Thank you!
