Greetings from the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office. After a very successful inaugural Junior Sheriff’s Academy, hosted by the Sussex County Public Training Academy (PSTA) last summer, I am here to notify you that we will be hosting our Second Annual Junior Sheriff's Academy July 6-10, 2026. As we conducted the Academy last year, this opportunity is available to the students of Sussex County that will be entering sixth, seventh, and eighth grades in the 2026-2027 school year. I am asking for your assistance in getting the information out to the students and parents in your various schools. Attached is a flyer and Academy Overview that can be hung up and/or copied for any student that shows interest to take home. There is also an announcement letter from Sheriff Michael F. Strada that gives an overview of what we will continue to accomplish in the years going forward. If you could make the letter and flyer available to the students, that would be greatly appreciated.
The Junior Sheriff’s Academy has been announce on our website (www.sussexcountysheriff.com). The application and instructions will be available on the website beginning March 30 and the window for applying will be open effective Monday, April 7, 2026 through Friday, May 8, 2026. In order to make it fair for everyone, we will process applications on a first come, first served basis. There will be a vetting process that follows to ensure that we maintain a positive environment for all to enjoy.

Tras la exitosa inauguración de la Academia de Sheriffs Juveniles, organizada por la Academia Pública de Capacitación del Condado de Sussex (PSTA) el verano pasado, les informo que celebraremos nuestra Segunda Academia Anual de Sheriffs Juveniles del 6 al 10 de julio de 2026. Al igual que la Academia del año pasado, esta oportunidad está disponible para los estudiantes del Condado de Sussex que ingresarán a sexto, séptimo y octavo grado en el año escolar 2026-2027.
