The Halsted Middle School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is doing a Thanksgiving food drive. Their community service project is called Food4Life. They will be holding several food collection drives throughout the year during holiday times. They are asking for donations of non- perishable food items such as canned vegetables, canned fruit, soups, and boxed items like stuffing, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. These items can be brought to the main office by Tuesday, 11/26. The food will be donated to a local food pantry at St. Joseph’s Church in Newton. The food will be shared with almost 100 families across our community. We are looking forward to making an impact!

The Halsted Student Council is participating in Project Self Sufficiency’s “Stuff the Stocking” event. Please consider donating new toys and/or gift cards for families needing presents to give their children during this holiday season. Donations will be accepted until December 5th and can be brought to room 208 or the main office lobby. Thank you!

#184DaysofBrave: Day 52 On Monday scholars and staff came together in observance of Veteran's Day to honor those that have served for our country. A remembrance table and remembrance cards were placed inside our front door, so that the Halsted community could honor our Veterans together!

5th grade students worked together to build words by analyzing Greek and Latin roots, identifying prefixes and suffixes to unlock new meanings. By breaking down each word, they strengthened their understanding of language and expanded their vocabulary with confidence.
