Each year the NJDOE sponsors the nomination for the Governor’s Educator of the Year Recognition Program to recognize educators who have gone above and beyond in their service to New Jersey’s students. Yesterday, you should have received an email with a nomination form. We invite community members to fill it out and please have all forms emailed to Mrs. Mercado at cmercardo@newtonnj.org by November 17, 2023. Thank you!

The Harlem Wizards visited Halsted to promote the Class of 2025 fundraiser, which is The World Famous Harlem Wizards Vs. Newton Teaching Staff on October 12, 2023 at 6:30pm in the Newton High School Gymnasium. This event is an amazing and fun-filled community basketball game!

Bill Richardson who has served as a U.S. Congressman, Ambassador to the United Nations, Secretary of Energy, and Governor of New Mexico. He has been nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Halsted is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! Today we will be highlighting:
Lin-Manuel Miranda who is a composer, lyricist and actor of Puerto Rican heritage. He is well-known for creating the musicals "Hamilton” and “In the Heights,” and for showcasing Hispanic talent and stories in his productions. He most recently wrote music for the movie Encanto and the musical New York, New York.
Digital Library Card Links are now available! Even if students signed up for one last year, they must sign up for it again this year. With the digital library cards, students will be able to access materials/books/resources from the Sussex County Library, digitally. Please note, that students will be unable to use this card to check out physical books from the library.
