#184DaysofBrave: Day 138 6th Grader Gabriella Pizarro created a project to find a Climate Change Solution to help Halsted Middle School better the environment! She spent a month working on the project to include her idea of putting in more recycling bins in the hallway and one bin outside, how the school could fund the project, and the environmental impact of adding more recycling bins. She presented her presentation twice to her class and got both teacher and scholar feedback. After practicing her presentation skills and putting the final touches on her project she presented to Dr. Castro and Ms. Dunbar who were floored by her details, her data, and her passion. Gabby then worked with Ms. Dunbar to finalize her project before presenting it to Brian Bobrowski, our Director of Facilities. Mr. Bobrowski approved the project for funding and the new internal recycling bins are being placed around the school this week. The outdoor recycling bin will go in over the summer to be ready for the next school year. We are all incredibly proud of Gabby's hard work and dedication! She is truly leaving a lasting impact on the Halsted Community.

Sebi and Colton won the dice game, and Lila won the Pi recitation contest by reciting 90 numbers of Pi!

#184DaysofBrave: Day 124 The gym was on fire yesterday afterschool! The competition in the skills contest was fierce! Congrats and kudos to semi finalists Arlo Sanberg and Tyquan McCallister. However, Tucker Maslowski demolished a school record yesterday completing the skills course in 30 seconds. He was able to master 4 out of his 5 skills on the first try. Awesome job Tuck!
