out to our daytime custodial team Mr. Kays and Mr. Thomas, for working extra hard the past week to keep us comfortable and cozy in our rooms despite the crazy temperatures these past weeks, and handling last week’s classroom leaks and broken pipes like bosses!

The 8th Grade Parent Committee will be selling Valentine’s Day Fortune Cookies that will be delivered during homeroom on Valentine’s day. Please see the form below for your orders. Presale is from Feb 1-Feb 12th to have your cookie delivered during homeroom. There will also be cookies available for sale after school on Valentine’s Day in the main lobby. On Friday February 14th, the Halsted 8th Grade Parent Committee is hosting a Valentine's Dinner and Movie here at Halsted! All proceeds go to the 8th Grade Trip and Dance for the Class of 2025!

Three of Mrs. Nieman's 7th grade ELA students, Savanna Sibilia, Taylor Sibilia, and Grace Zayac, entered a writing contest sponsored by Young Writers USA. The contest, called "Fright Club" involved writing a 100-word story, which is more challenging than it sounds! Savanna, Taylor, and Grace's stories were all chosen by the editor to be published in a book titled Fright Club - What Lies Beneath, which is scheduled for publication this April. We're looking forward to seeing their work in print, and we're very proud of their accomplishment!

If you are an eighth-grade parent, there is a link included with this email where you can purchase an ad to honor your student. The basic price for the yearbook is $30.00. The price of the ad varies, depending on the size of the ad purchased.
